Artisan Partisan

2nd and last Saturday of every month

The after-work and into the night social for Saturday staffers & party starters, from Wet Play’s Matt Ward and Out in the Sticks’ Russell Marsland.

1. a strong supporter of a party

Two of the city’s most passionate and prolific record collectors, have joined forces to form a coalition we should all get behind.

With over 30 years collective experience in record collecting, buying, selling and spinning, Matt Ward and Russell Marsland are bringing their party prowess and night time know-how to the basement at Kosmonaut for the twice monthly social, Artisan Partisan.

For the uninitiated, Matt has been flying the flag in our fine city running Detroit Public Radio and Wet Play – the latter expanding into to record world through parent lable Red Laser Records, a self-proclaimed ‘lifestyle upgrade’. He’s played alongside Frankie Knuckles, Tama Sumo, Hieroglyphic Being and has spent many a summer wooing the crowds in Croatia. Russell is a house-hold name (excuse the pun) and founder of Out in the Sticks, to some, the most important house night ever to have existed in the North of England.

Russell – the man in charge of vinyl at Vinyl Exchange – estimates his record collection at about 15,000, Matt – buyer of house, techno and futuristic vibrations at Piccadilly Records – is hot on his heels.

After years nipping across the road to share info on records and tales from the dancefloor they thought it about time to get together and do the whole Saturday night biz as only they can.
